AADUJEEVITHAM - A REVIEW

This is my first attempt at writing a blog.My first appearance on blogger. In this first attempt I would like to write a review about a book I have read.
Aadujeevitham is a novel written by Benyamin. This novel portrays the real life of Najeeb who was a migrant worker in Saudi Arabia.  My father bought this book for me to read.In this occasion I would like to thank him for giving me such a wonderful book. This novel made me understand the real problems of people working in abroad. When I started reading the novel,I had many expectations whether the novel is about goats or about the life of a person which is like goats.
Najeeb went abroad to fulfill the small dreams in his life ,leaving his pregnant wife at home. But unfortunately instead of reaching Riyad,he reaches agoat rearing farm somewhere in Saudi Arabia. He gets trapped by the supervisor ('arabab') who was a brutal and cruel man.Najeeb was forced to look after the goats.Sometimes he may be starving. Often he was given 'khubboos' (a kind of roti) and cold water as food. He had no other clothes to wear. He was not allowed to take a bath as the supervisor sees it as wastage of water. In a single word, I feel that he doesnt get any consideration even that was given to the goats. His job was to take the goats to a nearby hilly area and feed them. He spends his time with the goats,he eats with goats and he sleeps with goats. Finally Najeeb says that he has become a goat. Nobody was there to speak something. The only Keralite was a truck driver who arrives there rerely. So he himself finds satisfaction by speaking with goats. He assigns names to each goat and speak to them. He writes letters to his wife though he knew that he couldnt send them. He never writes his hardships in the letter. He tries his level best to withstand situations. So he never tries to attempt a suicide . Hot desert surrounded him and he tries to find a shelter even in a small stone. Whenever he tried to escape from there,he was caught by the supervisor. Najeeb says that he has become a real goat, living with the goats. Finally he escapes from there.
As this is a real story,I cannot imagine how this happened. This book is full of life, which create tears in our eyes. There are many people who comes to Gulf , cheated or otherwise fall in trap of heartless agents and merciless job providers. The book cover says,'all lives which we didnt experience are just fables for us'. One has to read the book to experience the pulses of a person who suffered a lot in the desert, as words
maynot be enough to explain it.
